I decided to go ahead and paint the Aluminum in the engine compartment. It's going to be the same color as the stripe on the car - a metallic blue.
The blue is Honda 'Suzuka Blue' PPG # HON B513M, I'm now committed to that.
The silver is going to be Grigio Titanio Met, a Ferrari color PPG # FER-3238.
It took me around four hours to sand down the aluminum, then do a three step paint job. Firstly a self etching aluminum primer, then the color and gloss. It's done and mocked up now, I think it looks great.
I'm waiting for the donor palet to be delivered, so very little progress has been made.
I have ran half (the back half) of the rear brake line. Don't want to complete until I have the master cylander so I can accurately mock up where they'll terminate.
I've also installed the upper and lower control arms, as well as shocks for the front suspension. Now I'm awaiting the spindles (from the donor).
I've also picked my colors, and bought some paint to color aluminum with. The finished car will be silver with metallic blue stripes. I'll post the exact colors when I get home.
Spent today getting ready to build up. Took the body off, and stored it in the back yard, and marked the aluminum, and took it off of the chasis.
A couple of hours work. Now I need to drill the aluminum for rivets, and store it (probably over with the body). Then I must complete the inventory and cleaning up all the boxes.
Stewart Transport drove up at 4:30 yesterday afternoon, and dropped everything off.
It's now a little daunting to look at all the work infront of me. I first need to go through all the boxes, and get them and the body stored adequately before I start actual work.
Also I called AMP Performance in Pheonix to have them start working on my donor palet. It'll take them a couple of weeks and it's a '92 5.0 mustang. I'm having them put a new T5Z transmission on with it, and a new clutch.
Total cost is $3735.
I ordered the Kit today. My complete date is August 16th. Stewart shipping will pick it up and bring it to me, I will likely get it a week later.
Ordered a base kit with the following extras:
Powdercoating
CNC cutouts
3 link suspension (free upgrade)
Koni front and back shocks (free upgrade)
Tubular front lower control arms (free upgrade)
EFI harness
Air Conditioning
I now will work on preparing the garage.
I've talked to AMP Performance in Phoenix as well as Mustang Village in Fontana about purchasing a donor palet. Both are viable options, but AMP seems cheaper for the same value of parts. They will also bring the palet to me (negating the fact that Fontana is so much closer).
